Riley Township is located in the northeastern part of Sandusky County, Ohio along the Sandusky Bay.

The township is governed by a three-member Board of Trustees, and a township Fiscal Officer responsible for record keeping and monies. Also employed by the township are a Zoning Inspector and Roads Supervisor.
